Generation Z identified as most religious generation in US survey

A new survey by The Harris Poll reveals that Generation Z adults are more likely to identify as religious than older generations in the United States. According to the data, 33% of Gen Z respondents described themselves as “religious,” compared to 22% of Gen X, 19% of millennials, and 18% of baby boomers.

Libby Rodney, chief strategy officer at The Harris Poll, noted that Gen Z appears to be “stacking” different spiritual practices rather than choosing one over the other. This includes a combination of traditional religious activities, such as attending church or reading scripture, alongside other practices like manifestation or tarot.

The survey, which included 2,136 U.S. adults, also found that 54% of Gen Z adults regularly read scripture or religious texts in the past year, a higher percentage than Gen X (48%) and baby boomers (43%). Additionally, 49% of Gen Z reported attending religious services regularly, compared to 44% of millennials, 43% of Gen X, and 42% of boomers.
