Greece Launches Major August Cultural Festival Lineup

A series of high‑profile cultural events will take place across Greece in August, organized under the Greek National Tourism Organization’s program to boost cultural tourism. The Chania Rock Festival opens on August 1‑2, marking its 25th anniversary with international rock acts from Europe and the United States. On August 11‑12, the Rascal Festival in Arta combines live music, visual arts and outdoor activities beside the town’s lake.

The KYMATA International Film Festival returns to Kefalonia from August 21‑30, featuring competitive sections for short fiction, documentary and, for the first time, animation, along with masterclasses and live‑music cinema performances. The schedule also includes the 55th Olympus Festival and a theatrical production titled “Socrates: My Life.” The initiatives aim to showcase Greece’s artistic heritage, attract niche tourism and reinforce the country’s international cultural profile.
