JTB launches Kyushu travel discounts for Kagoshima
JTB has announced the commencement of web reservations for the ‘Kyushu Fukkou Ouen Wari’ (Kyushu Reconstruction Support Discount) in Kagoshima Prefecture. Reservations for Kagoshima are scheduled to open online on October 20 at 13:00, following the start of in-store and telephone bookings on October 19.
This travel support initiative, announced by the Japan Tourism Agency, aims to recover tourism demand in seven Kyushu prefectures that has declined due to the effects of the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake. The program offers subsidies of up to 50% off travel costs for most areas, with Kumamoto and Kagoshima offering discounts of up to 60%.
Discount limits per person include up to 20,000 yen for single-night stays and up to 30,000 yen for stays of two or more nights. The program covers accommodation-only bookings as well as domestic tours that include transportation (flights or JR) and lodging. For multi-prefecture tours, the limit increases to 35,000 yen.
