Kyushu travel subsidy program begins reservations

Reservations for the ‘Kyushu Fukko Oenwari’ travel subsidy program have officially begun, initially targeting trips to Kumamoto and Nagasaki prefectures. The initiative, announced by the national government, aims to revitalize tourism across seven prefectures in Kyushu following the impact of the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto earthquake.

Under the program, travelers can receive discounts of up to 60% for stays in Kumamoto and Kagoshima, while the other five prefectures offer up to 50% off. The discounts apply to travel and accommodations starting from October 1. The subsidy is designed to support local tourism industries that experienced high cancellation rates due to the earthquake.

Platforms such as Jalan net have launched dedicated pages for the program. For single-night stays, the maximum discount per person is 20,000 yen, while multi-night trips with transportation can reach 30,000 yen, and touring trips spanning multiple prefectures can receive up to 35,000 yen.
