Levi Strauss and Marks & Spencer launch fashion renewable energy initiative

Levi Strauss & Co., Marks & Spencer, and Schneider Electric have launched the Fashion Renewable Collaborative (FRC). This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of renewable electricity within the global fashion industry's supply chains.

Textile production, including weaving and dyeing, accounts for more than 50% of the apparel industry's total emissions. To address this, the FRC will provide suppliers with practical tools, digital training, and resources to transition to clean energy. Support includes guidance on power purchase agreements (PPAs), renewable energy certificates, and on-site renewable production.

Schneider Electric will serve as the global implementation partner, utilizing its Resource Advisor+ for Supply Chain digital solution to assess supplier readiness and monitor progress. The initiative seeks to reduce the fragmentation of existing programs and prevent overlapping requirements for suppliers, inviting other fashion brands to join the collaborative effort.
