Lotte Department Store opens IP-themed Fandom Space in Busan

Lotte Department Store is launching its first specialized intellectual property (IP) zone, named ‘Fandom Space,’ at its Busan main store on October 30. Spanning approximately 1,785 square meters on the first basement floor, the space consolidates various subculture products including animation, games, characters, and figures.

Key tenants include Animate, which sells Japanese manga and anime goods; Bandai Gashapon Official Shop; and Ichiban Kuji. The zone will also feature San-X characters like Rilakkuma, as well as Best Hobby, which offers products from brands such as Kotobukiya and Good Smile Company.

The opening is supported by seven simultaneous pop-up stores, including the Busan debut of the ‘One Piece Mugiwara Store.’ To celebrate, the store will host a stamp tour, character photo opportunities, and a cosplay challenge on November 8. Lotte plans to expand this specialized IP retail concept to other major locations, such as Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, following a 15% increase in sales among the 2030 age demographic at the Busan branch.
