LEGO Group announces Star Wars and Marvel crossover challenge

The LEGO Group has announced a first-of-its-kind LEGO Ideas challenge that invites fans to create mash-ups of the Star Wars and Marvel universes. Announced at New York Comic Con, the competition allows builders to reimagine characters, vehicles, and scenes from both franchises. Participants can submit entries in three categories: Vehicle Fusion, Character Fusion, and Scene Fusion. Winning designs will be considered for transformation into official LEGO retail products.

The building challenge serves as a promotional tie-in for the upcoming comic book series, ‘Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles’. Written by Kevin Smith and illustrated by David Marquez, the comic series is set to launch in January 2027, marking the first official crossover between the two universes and celebrating the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. The comic series has been expanded from five to six issues.

Submissions for the LEGO Ideas challenge are open until November 12, 2026, with a fan voting period scheduled to begin in December. Grand prize winners are expected to be announced in 2027.
