Netherlands to host Open Energiedag at 40 energy sites

On September 19, 2026, approximately forty locations across the Netherlands will open to the public for the Open Energiedag. Organized by the Nederlandse Vereniging Duurzame Energie (NVDE), the event allows visitors to observe various sustainable energy projects, including wind turbines, solar parks, heat installations, and high-voltage stations.

The initiative aims to provide insight into the energy transition and how clean, affordable, and reliable energy is generated and distributed. The event coincides with the National Climate Cycling Day, organized by the Koninklijke Nederlandse Wielren Unie (KNWU), which features cycling routes passing by various sustainable energy sites.

Participating locations include sites in Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, and Flevoland. Specific regional highlights include the Eemshaven interactive energy transition site and the WarmteStad heat plant in Groningen.
