NutriNet-Santé study links irregular meal timing to heart risks
A study conducted by NutriNet-Santé involving more than 100,000 adults suggests that irregular meal timing, referred to as ‘eating jetlag,’ may be linked to increased cardiovascular risks, particularly in men.
The research highlights that significant shifts in eating schedules between workdays and weekends can disrupt the body’s internal biological clock. The study found that the greater the discrepancy in meal times between the workweek and the weekend, the higher the risk of cardiovascular and coronary heart diseases among male participants.
Study leader Bernard Srour noted that maintaining consistent meal times throughout the week and the weekend may be just as important as avoiding late-night eating to support heart health.
