Police arrest four for stealing gold from deity idols in Bangladesh

Dhaka Metropolitan Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the theft of gold from deity idols at three temples across Dhaka and Narayanganj. The suspects include a couple, Lipi Karmakar and Arnab Roy, along with two shopkeepers, Md Muhin and Zakariya Islam, who allegedly purchased the stolen items.

The investigation followed a theft at the Sri Sri Ramna Kali Mandir on October 7, where gold was taken from the tongue of a Kali idol. Police identified the suspects through CCTV footage. The suspects also confessed to involvement in a previous theft at the Siddheswari Kali Mandir on September 13. Authorities have recovered a portion of the stolen gold from the suspects.
