Snapchat expands Lens+ subscription with new generative AI tools

Snap Inc. has announced an expansion of generative AI tools for its Lens+ premium subscription tier on Snapchat. The update introduces several new features designed to enhance messaging and content creation.

A primary new feature, ‘Chat to Song’, allows subscribers to transform text messages into short, original musical tracks by selecting a specific genre such as pop or rock. Users can preview the generated audio before sending it to recipients.

Other notable additions include:

• AI Photoshoot: A tool to correct common photography issues, such as closed eyes, unflattering facial expressions, or poor lighting. • AI Remix: Enables users to reinterpret Snaps received from friends by reimagining them in new styles or contexts. • Creative Tools: New AI-powered fonts with textures like spray paint and bubble lettering, as well as a Sticker Remix feature to restyle custom stickers.

Lens+, which costs $7.99 per month, is a premium tier sitting above the standard Snapchat+ subscription. Due to the high computational demands of these generative AI tools, Snap applies monthly generation allowances to Lens+ users.
