Tavira to Host Mediterranean Diet Fair from Sept. 3‑6

The city of Tavira in Portugal’s Algarve region will host the XII Mediterranean Diet Fair from September 3 to 6. Organized by the Municipality of Tavira in partnership with regional authorities and private sponsors, the four‑day event celebrates the UNESCO‑listed intangible cultural heritage of the Mediterranean diet.

Around 200 exhibitors will showcase traditional crafts, sweets and local products, while roughly 40 institutional partners take part. The fair will feature special menus inspired by Portuguese, Italian and Moroccan cuisines in the historic centre, with activities for all ages, including children’s workshops, dance lessons, literary sessions and fado performances. Musical acts such as Carolina Deslandes, Diogo Piçarra and international Mediterranean artists will perform, and the Teatro Municipal António Pinheiro will host shows for younger audiences. The programme aims to promote healthy, seasonal and sustainable eating while highlighting the cultural diversity of Mediterranean communities.
