Croatia approves Tesla’s FSD Supervised driving system
Croatia has become the eighth European Union member state to approve Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system. The Croatian State Institute for Standardization recognized a provisional EU type-approval previously issued by the Dutch authority, RDW. This allows Tesla to begin rolling out the software to compatible vehicles in Croatia via over-the-air updates.
FSD Supervised is classified as a Level 2 driver assistance system, meaning it can manage steering, acceleration, braking, and lane changes, but requires constant driver supervision. It is not a fully autonomous system.
While several countries including the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic have granted national recognition, a broader EU-wide approval remains pending. A vote by the EU Technical Committee for Motor Vehicles (TCMV) to decide on a wider rollout has been delayed, with the next possible decision expected in December. Some member states, such as Sweden, have expressed safety concerns regarding the system's ability to adhere to speed limits.
