Turkey at bottom of European minimum wage rankings

Recent data show that Turkey's monthly gross minimum wage stands at €654, placing it just above Bulgaria's €620 and well below the €2,000‑plus levels in Western Europe. Luxembourg leads with €2,391, followed by Ireland (€2,343), Germany (€2,295), the Netherlands (€2,112) and Belgium (€2,112).

Over the past decade Turkey's wage grew by only €135 in euro terms, while several Eastern European nations saw much larger gains – Romania rose from €232 to €795, Lithuania from €350 to €1,153, and Bulgaria from €215 to €620. The disparity with Western Europe remains stark, with France at €1,823, Slovenia €1,482 and Spain €1,425. Workers in Turkey continue to call for at least a six‑month‑inflation adjustment to the minimum wage.
