1982 assassination of Albanian activists

Overview

New information has surfaced regarding the 1982 assassinations of Albanian activists Kadri Zeka, Jusuf Gërvalla, and Bardhosh Gërvalla in Heilbronn, Germany.

Initial reports highlighted accounts from Saime Isufi, the widow of Kadri Zeka, who believes the Yugoslav secret service (UDB) was responsible for the killings. Historical documents from Albanian State Security files also revealed past suspicions held by Suzana Gërvalla, who had alleged to security officials that Isufi might have been a UDB agent.

Subsequent claims by activist Ibrahim Kelmendi have introduced a different perspective, alleging that the assassination of Jusuf Gërvalla was ordered by Riza Salihu. Kelmendi stated that Salihu instructed Hysen Gega to carry out the killing under the pretext that Gërvalla was a spy for the UDB. Kelmendi also provided specific details regarding the merger of various Albanian political organizations occurring in January 1982.
