2026 South American Games venue construction

In late July 2026, the city of Rafaela in Argentina moved toward completing a new sports complex for the XIII South American Games, installing a UCI‑approved wooden velodrome, a homologated BMX circuit and a modern skatepark, alongside a multi‑purpose indoor arena. The project is part of a $23 billion investment by the Santa Fe provincial government and the CAF, intended to provide lasting facilities for the Games and future use.

A few days later, in early August 2026, Santa Fe announced the opening of a World‑Class athletics track at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo (CARD). The synthetic Class 1 surface, homologated by World Athletics, was built with a 4 billion‑peso budget and will host the Games’ track and field events. Both developments are key components of the broader Games programme that will span Santa Fe, Rosario and Rafaela, aiming to leave a lasting sports legacy for Argentina.
