2026 South American rally season updates

Overview

The 2026 South American rally season has progressed from schedule announcements to active competition across Argentina, Chile, and Peru.

In mid-August, the 51st Gran Premio de Tierra del Fuego in Chile featured 55 vehicles navigating 309 kilometers of timed sections. Following a new six-stage format designed to improve safety, the qualifying session for the G category saw Argentine duo Lucas Garro and Marcelo Garro take the top position with a time of 02’17”,43. Other category leaders included Nicolás Senkovic in series F and Facundo Carletti in series E.

In Argentina, the Rally de Pergamino faced difficult track conditions due to recent rainfall and mud. In the Maxi Rally division, Ricardo Martinoglio and navigator Braian Ferreyra led in a VW, followed by Horacio and Belén Heiland in a Hyundai. Other category leaders included Juan Pablo Zarkovich in Class A, Lucas and Martín Pacenti in the Junior class, and Luis Sciutto in N7.

Recent results also highlight successes in other regional events. In Peru, Jimmy Chirinos and co-driver Juan Pablo Echegaray secured the UTV category title at the RallyACP 2026 after winning the final stage in Pisco on August 9. Additionally, the 51st Gran Premio de la Hermandad was won by the father-son duo Lucas and Marcelo Garro, who took first place in both the general classification and the G category driving a Honda Civic. Branko Guic and Gonzalo Cerda secured second place in the general classification.

Earlier in the season, the Rally del Jaaukanigás returned to Reconquista, while the TC Pista Mouras series at Autódromo Roberto Mouras saw Ignacio Lovich claim victory. The season also marked the return of veteran driver Gabriel “Chespi” Barbona to the Rally del Jaaukanigás.
