Greek Public Employment Service programmes

Overview

In mid‑July 2026 the Greek Public Employment Service (ΔΥΠΑ) launched a subsidised employment scheme for 1,000 unemployed university and technological graduates, offering gross monthly salaries of up to €1,250 (or €1,200 for technical graduates). Applicants must be registered in the Digital Unemployment Registry, hold a relevant degree and satisfy merit‑based criteria. At the same time ΔΥΠΑ published provisional ranking tables for temporary contracts at three nursery stations (Ilion, Larissa, Chaidari) and opened an electronic appeal period (17‑26 July).

On 27 July ΔΥΠΑ announced the completion of a project to modernise its vocational‑training system. Existing curricula were revised and new study guides produced for sectors with strong labour‑market demand, and programmes for schools serving people with disabilities were updated. A new specialty in floral design was added, and the revised programmes now span technology, tourism, agriculture, construction, health, business administration, logistics, beauty and fashion, among others, with an emphasis on employability skills and inclusion.

Applications for the graduate grant opened on 27 July and will close on 18 August 2026. Eligibility criteria include registration in the Digital Unemployment Registry, a completed Digital Action Plan and factors such as length of unemployment, minor children, disability status and work experience. The program targets individuals aged 25 to 54 for 12-month full-time positions. Unions have meanwhile highlighted that participants in ΔΥΠΑ’s “30 & Above” pre‑employment scheme remain unpaid and lack social‑insurance coverage, demanding wages and full employment rights.
