European summer music festivals 2026

Overview

In late July and August 2026, cultural organizers across Europe staged a series of summer music events. In Croatia, the City Museum of Nova Gradiška opened two free exhibitions on 23 July and 30 July to mark the 30th anniversary of the town’s flagship open-air Nova Gradiška Music Summer. The first exhibition, “Folk Costumes through Tošo Dabac’s Lens”, curated by Bojana Poljaković Popović, presented photographs of people from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Macedonia. The second, “Ivan Hus – Violin Maker”, curated by director Rosana Škrgulja, displayed instruments and workshop items from the craftsman known as the “Zagreb Stradivari”.

The Nova Gradiška Music Summer festival featured a rock-themed opening night with regional legends Galija and Bijelo dugme, alongside performances by Rockeri, the tamburaška ensemble ‘Satir’, Adi Šoše, and Nikola Rokvić. The multi-day event, which includes literary and art workshops for children, has attracted tens of thousands of visitors.

In Italy, the national Onde Mediterranee Music Festival launched in Gradisca d'Isonzo on 30 July at the Arena del Castello, with regional programmes in Lazio, Tuscany, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

By mid-August, the season expanded further in Southeast Europe. In Pula, Croatia, singer Haris Džinović performed a major concert at the Pula Arena to celebrate his 40-year career, accompanied by 19 musicians, an eight-piece string ensemble, and guests Željko Vasić and Ivan Licul. In Serbia, the Nišvila jazz festival awarded the “Car Konstantin” Grand Prix to Pakito D’ Rivera and hosted Boney M. for their 50th anniversary. Additionally, the Tunalicious Festival in Poreč combined music with gastronomy and big game fishing.
