In late July 2026 IBM announced a partnership with Indian AI startup Sarvam to build full‑stack sovereign AI solutions for government and regulated enterprises. The collaboration combined IBM’s Sovereign Core platform with Sarvam’s multilingual large‑language‑model stack, and established an IBM GovTech AI Innovation Center in Lucknow for pilots and demonstrations. Sarvam also launched its Epoch Builder Edition platform, offering 7‑billion‑ and 70‑billion‑parameter models and outlining plans for a trillion‑parameter model within six months.

A few days later, in early August, Quantum Synthetic Intelligence (QSI) detailed the expansion of its Made‑in‑India sovereign AI platform, emphasizing privacy‑preserving edge computing and hybrid quantum‑classical processing. At the same time, Sarvam AI presented a comprehensive sovereign AI suite covering speech, translation, document digitisation and multilingual conversational services, reporting extensive token processing, low latency, and high uptime. The company disclosed substantial funding under the IndiaAI Mission, highlighted partnerships with UIDAI and state governments, and listed major corporate customers. Together, the two announcements illustrate a rapid broadening of India’s domestic AI ecosystem, with multiple firms scaling platforms, securing government backing, and targeting reduced reliance on foreign AI models.
