Turkey solar power expansion
Overview
In early August 2026, Turkey advanced its renewable‑energy agenda with several new solar projects. On 3 August, construction began on a 10‑MW solar plant in Hakkari, slated to feed the national grid by October and cut annual emissions by about 8,000 tonnes. The same announcement included a 150‑million‑lira investment to upgrade the Muradiye industrial zone’s transmission network, adding three 100 MVA lines to eliminate power cuts and boost industrial competitiveness.
Four days later, on 7 August, the Manavgat municipality reported progress on its own solar plant, built on 27 dönüm of land. The facility is expected to supply roughly 86 % of the municipality’s electricity, lowering energy costs and reducing reliance on conventional power. Together, these initiatives illustrate a coordinated push by Turkish authorities and local governments to increase solar generation, improve grid reliability, and promote environmental sustainability across different regions.
