Dangerous driving incidents in Greece

Overview

Authorities in Greece have taken legal action against drivers following separate incidents of dangerous driving.

In late August, a 21-year-old driver faced charges after social media footage showed him driving through the Kakia Skala tunnels on the Athens-Corinth National Road with car doors open and music playing at high volumes. Police described the vehicle as a ‘mobile disco’ that posed a severe risk to others. The case was forwarded to the Misdemeanor Prosecutor.

Shortly after, Thessaloniki Traffic Police arrested a 24-year-old Hungarian driver for erratic maneuvers on Alexandrou Avenue during a high-performance sports car gathering. Although the event had permits for parking, authorities noted that permission did not cover dangerous driving. The incident has prompted local municipal authorities to review the regulations for such organized gatherings.
