Overview

Security operations in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified following a series of raids and counter-terrorism encounters. In Poonch, a joint operation involving police and forensic experts at a jewelry shop resulted in the seizure of AK-47 ammunition, Pakistani currency, and various propaganda materials.

Simultaneously, a large-scale counter-terrorism effort known as ‘Operation Sohan’ was launched in the forests of Bartal, Sohan, and Khubban. During an encounter on September 17, security forces killed two terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, though authorities believe a third individual may remain at large.

In response to these developments, a high alert has been issued across the Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Doda, and Kishtwar districts. Security forces, including the Army’s White Knight Corps, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF, are utilizing drones, helicopters with thermal surveillance, and sniffer dogs to expand search areas. Additionally, an ‘over-ground worker’ has been detained to investigate potential logistical support for terrorist activities.
