Disbandment of Japanese idol group WEST

Overview

The Japanese idol group WEST. officially concluded its activities on September 30, 2026, marking the end of its 12-year run.

The group’s dissolution followed a period of instability triggered by the marriages of members Shigeoka Daiki and Hamada Takahiro, and the subsequent departures of Fujii Ryusei and Kotaki Nozomi in late August.

During a live appearance on the program ‘DayDay.’, member Nakama Junta expressed gratitude to fans for their support and apologized for the “uncertainty and distress” caused to the public and industry partners during the group’s final months. Nakama confirmed he will continue his career as a solo entertainer, noting that the group’s memories would “always connect our hearts.”

Alongside the disbandment, the ‘WEST. Tamagotchi Project’—an initiative to produce an original Tamagotchi device—has been terminated. The project’s official social media account is scheduled to close on October 1.
