Death of Fiona Hepler Lowe

Overview

Actor and director Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, announced the death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has ruled the death a suicide. Fiona was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 1:14 am on Tuesday, September 29.

In a statement to People magazine, the family described Fiona as a ‘loving, smart, and creative girl who loved to dance’ and ‘the light of our lives.’ Fiona was the middle of the couple’s three daughters; her sisters are Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Following the news, Fiona’s older sister, Mabel, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, posting childhood photos and videos to honor her sister’s memory.

The family has included a plea for mental health awareness in their announcements, urging those struggling to contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Some reports noted that the family had previously faced significant hardship after their home was destroyed in the Palisades Fire. Family friend and music executive Mykesha Robinson noted that Fiona and her daughter, Faith, were close childhood friends at Palisades Charter Elementary School, adding that Faith had recently attempted to reconnect with Fiona via Instagram shortly before her death.

Fiona’s passing has prompted widespread condolences from the Hollywood community. The ABC drama ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ honored her during the Season 2 premiere, ‘Going Rogue’, which concluded with a title card reading ‘In Loving Memory, Fiona Lowe’ alongside her photograph. Following the tragedy, Chad Lowe shared spiritual reflections on Instagram, posting a clip from Olivia Hunt’s ‘On Healing’ podcast featuring guest Gerry Hussey. The footage discusses spiritual themes, such as a ‘divine frequency’ and a state of consciousness that transcends physical human emotions and the ego.
