Death of Australian model Sahara Ray

Overview

Australian model and entrepreneur Sahara Ray has died at the age of 34 in a Los Angeles hospital. Her family confirmed she passed away on Sunday, October 18, surrounded by loved ones.

While an official cause of death has not been formally released, some media reports have suggested a potential fentanyl overdose following an emergency hospitalization. Ray had previously been open about her health struggles, including a diagnosis of Guillain-Barré syndrome in 2024, a rare autoimmune disorder that caused muscle weakness and partial paralysis following a serious car accident.

Ray, the daughter of professional surfer Tony Ray, gained international recognition in 2016 through her association with singer Justin Bieber. She was also the founder of the swimwear brand Sahara Ray Swim and maintained a significant social media presence. She had recently welcomed her daughter, Snow, in January 2026. Following her death, several public figures, including musician Mod Sun, have shared tributes to her life.
