UNAM academic and student support initiatives
Overview
The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has implemented several initiatives focused on student welfare and academic advancement. The university launched a registration process for over 90,000 scholarships across high school, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. This program, which includes various categories such as food support and academic excellence, utilizes a new digital platform called Espacio UNAM and an artificial intelligence tool named GoIA to assist students in identifying appropriate financial aid.
In addition to financial support, UNAM has hosted major academic congresses. The Faculty of Medicine held its 3rd Research Congress to discuss biomedical innovation and public health, while the Faculty of Psychology organized the 15th Latin American Congress on Dropout in Higher Education (CLABES). These gatherings addressed critical issues such as student retention, the impact of socioeconomic inequalities on academic permanence, and the role of artificial intelligence in education.
