Traffic accidents in the Netherlands
Overview
Multiple traffic accidents involving various vehicles and pedestrians were reported across several Dutch locations in late October 2026.
In Weert, a cyclist on a fatbike was seriously injured after being struck and run over by a delivery van. In Waalwijk, a collision occurred between a car and a cyclist, with preliminary investigations suggesting fogged car windows may have contributed to the incident.
Later in the month, a three-vehicle rear-end collision near Zierikzee resulted in one person being hospitalized. In Leiden, a driver reversing from a parked position struck a shopping center building, causing significant exterior damage but no injuries.
On October 31, a man was seriously injured in The Hague on the Vaillantlaan. The incident occurred during a police intervention involving the man, who was reportedly exhibiting “incomprehensible behavior.” While officers were speaking with him, the man suddenly ran into the path of a passing car near the intersection with Frans Halsstraat. The driver was unable to avoid the collision. Emergency services, including the Mobile Medical Team, responded, and the victim was transported to the hospital via the “scoop and run” principle. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances, and the road was temporarily closed for inquiries.
