Fatal traffic accidents and enforcement in Turkey

Recent reports indicate fatal traffic collisions in different Turkish regions. In Kuşadası, a 36-year-old pedestrian, İrem Pourjalalı, died after being struck by a motorcycle at the Tütüncüler Junction. The motorcyclist, Ali Enes Işıkay, was injured and remains under medical treatment while the Kuşadası Chief Public Prosecutor's Office investigates potential speed limit violations and vehicle conditions.

In the Turgutlu district, a 35-year-old motorcyclist, Tolga Başaran, died following a collision with a truck at the Mustafa Kemal Paşa Meydanı junction. The truck driver, Erhan Y., was taken into custody for investigation following an examination of the scene by crime scene investigators and a public prosecutor.

A new fatal accident was reported in Istanbul, Bakırköy, involving motorcycle rider Kutay Altuğ Yalçın. Security footage shows Yalçın's motorcycle struck a car that had stopped to turn, after which a second vehicle, driven by an Iranian national, reportedly struck the fallen rider and dragged him approximately 6 meters. The victim's family is seeking justice and has questioned why the driver of the first vehicle remains free while the second driver is in custody.

Separately, law enforcement has conducted significant traffic enforcement operations. In Eskişehir, police issued 240,000 TL in fines to a driver without a license and the vehicle owner. In Çanakkale, gendarmerie inspections conducted between September 14 and October 26 resulted in 32,415,993 TL in administrative fines across 2,852 vehicles.

In İzmir, a court overturned a traffic fine issued to a taxi driver because an honorary traffic inspector failed to provide concrete evidence, such as photos or video, to support an alleged pedestrian right-of-way violation. Additionally, in Bakırköy, a man was detained and fined 180,000 TL following a road rage incident involving a family that was captured on camera and identified by virtual patrol units.
