Homicide investigations in Brazil
Overview
Police in various Brazilian regions are investigating multiple separate homicide cases.
In Campos dos Goytacazes, a man was found dead with gunshot wounds to the head and was gagged. Investigators recovered .380 caliber shell casings at the scene. While the victim reportedly had a criminal record and family members mentioned a recent cattle transaction, no motive has been established.
In Petrópolis, a man was found dead near the BR-040 highway. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the death.
In São Paulo, two distinct incidents were reported in the central region. A man in a wheelchair was found with throat and groin cuts, as well as facial injuries from stones. Police have ruled out natural or accidental causes. In a separate case, a body was discovered tied and covered inside a shopping cart under the Jaceguai Viaduct. Although 21 bodies have been found in the Greater São Paulo area since September 5, investigators stated they do not believe this specific case is connected to previous discoveries.
