311th Sinjska Alka preparations

In late July 2026, Alkars began official trial runs on the Sinj track, marking the start of intensive preparations for the 311th Sinjska Alka. Three races were held, with Marko Vrca leading the day’s scores and a total of 83 points recorded across the events. These "prove" sessions, lasting at least 15 days, allow riders and horses to rehearse galloping, lance handling and target precision ahead of the main festivals scheduled for 7‑9 August.

A few days later, Alkarski vojvoda Mario Šušnjara announced the finalized lineup of participants and officials for the upcoming Alka. The traditional alajčauš, deputy, harambaša, barjaktar and other roles were named, alongside a list of 17 alkari, including debutants and farewells to long‑time competitors. The event will proceed under the patronage of President Zoran Milanović, continuing the historic equestrian competition that is a centerpiece of Croatia’s cultural heritage.
