A7 launches USDT-based international payment service
Overview
The Russian international settlement system A7, established by state-owned Promsvyazbank, officially launched its ‘A7 International’ service on 13 October. Designed to facilitate cross-border trade despite international sanctions, the service allows users to settle foreign invoices using the USDT stablecoin via the TRON network. Recipients receive funds through the conventional SWIFT messaging network in various currencies, including U.S. dollars, euros, Chinese yuan, and UAE dirhams.
Targeting individuals and foreign trade operators, the platform operates with a fixed commission of 0.3 percent. Pyotr Fradkov, chairman of Promsvyazbank, stated that the service aims to meet market demand for fast, low-friction global money transfers.
This launch follows A7’s previous expansion efforts, such as the introduction of the A7A5 cryptocurrency in Kyrgyzstan, a stablecoin pegged to the Russian ruble. The system, which processed approximately 19 percent of Russian companies’ cross-border trade settlements in 2025, is now seeking to expand its international footprint into Africa, with existing operations in Nigeria and Zimbabwe and planned launches in Togo.
