Abruzzo regional council budget 2026‑2028
Entities: Collegio dei Revisori · Fratelli d’Italia · ERSI Abruzzo · Regional Civil Protection Agency · Luigi Di Loreto
Overview
In early August 2026 the Abruzzo Regional Council launched a week of commission meetings on health‑service liquidity, the draft 2026‑2028 budget, drainage consortia and civil‑protection initiatives. Two days later the council formally approved the 2026‑2028 budget, allocating more than €60 million to new regional investments. Funding was earmarked for public transport, depopulation countermeasures, weather‑related interventions, urban regeneration, the Regional Civil Protection Agency and the Regional Procurement Agency, financed by a surplus from the 2025 accounts without additional borrowing.
On 5 August councilor Massimo Verrecchia (Fratelli d’Italia) defended the settlement against criticism from fellow councilor Silvio Paolucci, noting that the Court of Auditors had approved the 2025 accounts on 16 July, confirming the fiscal surplus used to finance the measures. The budget makes roughly €13 million available for public transport, €4.7 million for depopulation, €2.4 million for weather‑related actions, €2 million each for urban regeneration and civil‑protection, €3.6 million for procurement, plus additional resources for social, cultural and sport programmes. Verrecchia said the Collegio dei Revisori only sought clarifications on specific items, which were promptly provided, and affirmed that no procedural irregularities exist.
The council’s 5 August approval reiterated these allocations and confirmed that the surplus had been validated without reservations by the Corte dei Conti, underscoring the budget’s fiscal soundness.
