Abycine Film Festival audiovisual support

Overview

The Abycine International Film Festival in Albacete is expanding its support for regional and national audiovisual production through various partnerships and awards for its 28th edition, scheduled for October 20 to 29.

Castilla-La Mancha Media (CMM) has renewed its commitment via the Impulso CMM Desarrollo initiative, which will provide three grants of €17,250 each to selected projects. The festival will also award €1,500 to the best short film in the ‘Hecho en Castilla-La Mancha’ category to recognize local young directors.

In collaboration with RTVE, the festival has announced five finalists for the II Premio Talento RTVE Abycine. This competition offers a €15,000 prize and includes projects such as ‘Siameses’, ‘Mal de güeyu’, ‘Avestruz’, ‘Catari’, and ‘Yo la veo guapa’. These finalists will participate in the Abycine Lanza professional market to pitch their ideas to industry experts for production backing.

During the festival, the documentary ‘Hora nona’, directed by Jorge Moreno and Matías Uris, was recognized with the Abycine Lanza WIP award, receiving €7,000 for post-production. Other featured works include the documentary ‘El fin del olvido’, which explores historical memory, and ‘Sucia’, directed by Bàrbara Mestanza, which addresses sexual violence. The festival also showcased ‘Fuente-Álamo, planos del tiempo’, a collective short film produced by primary school students.
