Academic research initiatives in Valencia
Overview
Academic institutions in the Valencian Community have initiated several research chairs focused on environmental and social sciences.
Initially, the Universitat Politècnica de València and Global Omnium renewed the ‘Aguas de Valencia’ Chair to research water cycle management, decarbonization, and artificial intelligence. Concurrently, the Universitat de València and the Ajuntament de Burjassot established the ‘Vicent Andrés Estellés’ Chair to study literary education and the poet’s work.
Following these developments, the University of Valencia, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and the Innpulso Network launched the Arrels Chair. Supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities with 600,000 euros in funding, this initiative focuses on climate resilience. It aims to develop practical solutions for risks such as floods, heatwaves, and coastal threats through collaboration between research institutions, municipalities, and businesses on a national and international scale.
