Academic research trends in Peru and Ecuador

Academic research in Peru and Ecuador has explored various applications of technology and social media across different sectors.

In Peru, studies at the Universidad Nacional Daniel Alcides Carrión investigated the use of Facebook to enhance reading skills in preschool students. More recently, industrial safety research at Compañía Minera Condestable highlighted the impact of the Prever Program, which resulted in a significant reduction in workplace accidents and severity indices during 2023.

In Ecuador, research at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana examined higher education access through a gender identity lens, noting that inequities persist for women and the LGBTIQ+ community. Subsequent projects have expanded into marketing, data analysis, and industrial engineering, including Retail Media strategies for Don Vittorio and the development of a virtual platform for sentiment analysis on Facebook and TikTok. Furthering the scope of commercial research, a project from the UIDE Digital Repository has outlined an export plan for ‘Cubu,’ a brand of gourmet specialty coffee cubes produced in Loja, Ecuador, targeting the third-wave coffee shop sector in Mendoza, Argentina.
