Acapulco flood rescue of restaurant owner's family

Overview

Following severe flooding caused by tropical storm Simon in Acapulco, Guerrero, the owner of the restaurant La Pequeña España launched a public search for the individuals who rescued his wife and daughter from a vehicle swept away by currents on Cuauhtémoc Avenue.

The owner initially described the rescuers as “heroes without capes,” offering financial rewards and lifetime free meals to anyone who could help locate them.

Subsequent reports confirmed that the rescuers included a passenger from the Acabús transport system and three Coca-Cola delivery workers, identified as Constantino, José Luis, and José Manuel. Video footage showed the workers using their delivery truck to divert the current while the Acabús passenger assisted the women in exiting through a vehicle window.

The restaurant owner successfully located the Coca-Cola employees to express his gratitude, providing them and their families with lifetime free meals. Coca-Cola FEMSA México also formally recognized the employees for their actions.
