Accidental deaths in Latin America
Overview
Reports indicate several fatal accidents across various regions in Latin America. In Zapallar, Chile, a 35-year-old man died after being swept away by a sudden wave while recreational fishing.
In Sechura, Peru, a 38-year-old diver, Aldo Silva Armas, died during scallop extraction. Witnesses allege that a high-speed cargo vessel may have severed his oxygen hose. Authorities are investigating the vessel to determine if safety protocols were followed.
Other reported incidents include a child's death in a water tank in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and a 19-year-old man being swept away by a river current in Colombia. In Mexico, fatalities were reported involving a fall into a well and a drowning in a river. Additionally, a young boy was found near a river in the Ngäbe-Buglé region of Panama.
