Acciona infrastructure expansion in South America

Overview

Spanish multinational Acciona is expanding its infrastructure presence in Peru and Chile through energy and data center initiatives. In Peru, the company inaugurated a technological Control Center in Lima to manage an electrical transmission network valued at approximately $800 million, utilizing artificial intelligence to oversee high-voltage lines and substations within the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN).

In Chile, Acciona is pursuing a new data center division, requesting a grid connection from Enel for an 80 MW facility with an estimated investment exceeding €500 million. This expansion aims to leverage existing regional assets, such as the El Romero solar plant.

In related discussions regarding future development, Acciona experts and international representatives emphasized that modern infrastructure must prioritize environmental value, climate risk mitigation, and urban habitability. The panel highlighted the necessity of transparent public decision-making and technical planning to manage risks such as supply chain disruptions and material price fluctuations.
