Overview
Accra has been ranked as the 18th best city for nightlife globally in a report by Time Out. The Ghanaian capital was one of only two African cities to feature in the top 20, alongside Johannesburg, which placed seventh.
The ranking was based on assessments of quality, affordability, safety, diversity, and hospitality, incorporating feedback from over 24,000 residents and evaluations by culture and nightlife specialists. Accra received high marks for its social warmth and community connection, with 75% of residents stating it is easy to find connection and 62% noting that nightlife is affordable.
The city’s entertainment scene is centered in districts such as Osu and the emerging area of East Legon. While Afrobeats is a central cultural element, the scene includes diverse music styles such as electronic music, alté, and R&B.
