Administrative and recruitment controversies in Incheon

Various administrative and recruitment processes within Incheon-based organizations have come under scrutiny.

In the selection of the head for the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA), concerns were raised regarding the speed of the vetting process. Critics noted that the rapid timeline between interviews and final selection might prevent thorough integrity and ethics checks for candidates managing major development projects. There were also questions regarding whether candidates with past controversies would be interviewed and whether the appointee would possess sufficient administrative influence.

Separately, the Incheon Women and Family Foundation faced controversy over its recruitment of a new representative director. The foundation reportedly changed its articles of incorporation to set a two-year term, which conflicted with existing municipal ordinances requiring a three-year term. While Incheon Metropolitan City moved to amend the ordinance to allow such changes, the Incheon City Council expressed concerns that this could reduce legislative oversight and allow the mayor to align director terms with their own administration.
