African economic development and manufacturing investment

Overview

Efforts to stimulate economic growth and job creation in Africa are being driven by various investment and manufacturing initiatives.

The Africa Jobs Fund has established goals to mobilize $100 million toward export manufacturing and international labor mobility. The organization aims to catalyze high-impact companies to create $50 billion in income gains for African workers and double the lifetime incomes of over 250,000 low-income individuals.

In Nigeria, the UK government-backed Manufacturing Africa programme has mobilized over $630 million for 23 businesses over a six-year period. This initiative has supported the creation or safeguarding of more than 21,400 direct jobs. Rather than providing direct capital, the programme focuses on strengthening investor readiness and connecting businesses with capital sources. To further assist growth, a new digital Fundraising Toolkit has been launched to help Nigerian businesses attract investment and scale operations.
