AG. AL wins 2026 Esports World Cup

The Chinese esports organization AG. AL won the 2026 Esports World Cup club championship, marking the first time a Chinese team has secured the top overall title. The tournament, which featured a total prize pool of $75 million and over 2,000 players from 200 clubs representing more than 100 countries, was held in Paris, France, rather than its original location of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The relocation to France was attributed to regional logistical challenges and transport disruptions.

AG. AL finished the competition with 5,300 points, overtaking the two-time defending champions, Team Falcons of Saudi Arabia, who ended with 4,600 points. The victory was largely secured during the Trackmania competition through a performance by player Gwendal ‘Gwen’ Duparc, who won the inaugural Trackmania tournament and earned $130,000. In addition to the Trackmania win, AG. AL claimed a championship in Tekken 8 and achieved runner-up positions in disciplines including Chess, Free Fire, and Honor of Kings.

The closing ceremony, held at the Grand Palais, included appearances by French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
