Overview

In September 2026, two significant fires impacted agricultural operations in Poland.

On the night of September 11–12, a fire at a farm in Milewko, located in the Nowe commune, destroyed a wooden barn and several pieces of essential machinery, including combines, seeders, and sprayers. While no injuries occurred, the owner’s family launched a fundraising campaign to raise 100,000 PLN to replace the equipment.

Later in the month, during the night of September 19–20, a fire in Zalesice within the Wierzbica municipality destroyed approximately 1,200 bales of straw, resulting in estimated losses of 250,000 PLN. The farmer, Piotr Wątły, suspects arson, noting that the fire appeared in two locations simultaneously and that surveillance footage showed a vehicle approaching the area. This incident is reported as the fourth straw fire in the Wierzbica municipality since the start of 2026.
