In the United States, power and capacity constraints are limiting the deployment of hardware. Amazon Web Services is reportedly storing billions of dollars in Nvidia GPU hardware in warehouses because data centers lack sufficient electricity to operate the equipment. Public opposition is also rising, with polling indicating that 66% of Americans oppose new data center construction due to concerns over utility bills and pressure on local energy and water resources.

Fitch Ratings has warned that US projects, particularly in Texas, Georgia, and Ohio, face increasing difficulties. Potential regulatory changes at the state level, including stricter permitting conditions, moratoriums, or the removal of tax incentives, could further increase costs and extend project timelines.
