AI integration in Polish healthcare
Overview
Public and institutional interest in integrating artificial intelligence into the Polish healthcare system has been highlighted through recent research and official policy initiatives.
A study by UCE Research and the Medigent Foundation found that 46.7% of Poles support using AI to assist doctors, primarily to alleviate administrative burdens such as managing patient queues and analyzing medical documentation rather than replacing professionals. This support aims to address systemic issues like staff shortages and long waiting lists.
Following these findings, the Ministry of Health and the e-Health Center organized a conference in Warsaw focused on the digital transformation of health systems through data, AI, and cybersecurity. The event included international representatives from the WHO, OECD, and ITU. Concurrently, Poland is investing in digital infrastructure, with hospitals expected to gain access to a national AI platform featuring certified algorithms for diagnostic imaging support.
