AJAP agricultural support initiatives in Portugal
Overview
The Association of Young Farmers of Portugal (AJAP) has undertaken several initiatives to support the Portuguese agricultural sector through technical training and industry partnerships.
In late September, AJAP launched an accredited 135-hour organic production method course for technicians. The hybrid program, designed for individuals with higher education in agricultural sciences, aims to provide the expertise necessary to work as accredited technicians in organic production.
Following this, AJAP signed a cooperation protocol with the Association of Olive Growers and Mills of Portugal (OLIVUM) in Beja. This partnership is intended to support the olive sector by strengthening technical assistance for producers, monitoring investment projects, and promoting generational renewal. The agreement also focuses on increasing the market value of Portuguese olive cultivation through innovation and the promotion of traditional olive oil varieties.
