Alba Iulia traffic and public transport updates

Overview

The Alba Iulia City Hall has announced plans to eliminate “except for residents” traffic restrictions on several public streets, such as Gemina, Mihai Viteazul, and Bucovinei. While these measures were originally implemented to manage narrow streets and prevent property blockages, the Alba Iulia Traffic Commission determined that such restrictions should be removed to avoid discrimination among road users.

In a separate development regarding city services, bus services in Alba Iulia are scheduled to resume on August 17, 2026, following a two-month hiatus. This resumption follows a signed convention between the Alba Iulia City Hall and STP Alba Iulia intended to resolve previous payment disputes. Mayor Gabriel Pleșa stated that the city will resume payments to the transport provider to resolve the impasse, allowing services to return to their previous schedules.
