Albanian tourist rescue operations

Overview

In mid‑July, Albanian border police rescued nine foreign tourists stranded in the coastal towns of Himarë and Ksamil.

A few weeks later, Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari reported that police interventions had rescued more than 200 tourists over the preceding four months, primarily in the Cika, Gjipe and southern regions. The ministry highlighted a 21 % rise in vessel inspections, the introduction of at‑sea maritime border checks via the TIMS system, and enforcement of a new noise‑level ordinance aimed at protecting both visitors and local businesses.
