Aleppo reconstruction and investment initiatives

Overview

The Aleppo Governorate and the Syrian Investment Authority have initiated new urban development and reconstruction efforts. This began with the launch of the ‘Al-Albi Project’ on the site of a former textile factory, marking the first development to operate under Syria’s new real estate investment and development regulations. During this phase, the Syrian Investment Authority reviewed approximately $800 million in investment licenses and permits, and a technical committee was formed to reorganize damaged areas through integrated urban visions.

Efforts to attract investment have expanded to include discussions with international private sector actors. Syrian officials met with Emirati businessman Mohamed Alabbar to explore opportunities in the housing, real estate development, and tourism sectors. These discussions included field inspections of Aleppo’s old markets and various residential and economic sites to assess potential for infrastructure rehabilitation and large-scale reconstruction projects.
